What are you Knitting? (Discussion)

What’s your current project? Or if you haven’t started, what’s your vision?

Right now I’m attempting to knit a pair of mittens with double-pointed needles. Have to say it’s not going as quickly as I had hoped. Still learning how to use these different little needles! If anyone knows how to use them, I’d love your advice!

You have to have about 5 of the needles. Evenly distribute your stitches across four of the needles and knit onto the fifth needle. As the stitches accumulate onto the fifth needle you exchange the fifth needle (which now has all the stitches) with the needle that just held the stitches you have knitted. It’s kind of like knitting in the round with a circular needle but more awkward.

I make cotton washcloths. I know it sounds gross. But it’s nice and calming. No pattern to read, just knit one row and purl one row. 50 stitches across and 55 rows long on size 6 needles. My vision is to make a fine wool shawl with open work, but it will cost a fortune in yarn so it’s just a vision.

Right now I’m knitting a scarf for my husband. It’s just your basic 2×2 ribing scarf. I’m about 3/4 of the way done and plan on making the same exact one for myself, just in a different color.

I have used 2 circular needles, instead of using 5 needles to kniting something in the round. Fairly easy to do.
