For those in the Toronto Area:
Stitch n’ Pitch August 5, 2008 (TODAY!)
Stitch n’ Pitch brings together two North American traditions: Baseball and the NeedleArts. Come to a ball game and knit, crochet, embroider, cross-stitch and needlepoint. Sit among friends, family and colleagues and cheer on your Toronto Blue Jays, as they take on the Oakland Athletics.
In 2007, over 500 avid knitters and needlepoint enthusiasts attended this event in August. Join us in 2008, and help us welcome over 1000 people to an amazing night!
Tickets are discounted to $20.00 per person, and include a free Blue Jays tote bag. Tickets should be available at your local knitting store (full details and store list will be posted later in spring), or by visiting http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/tor/ticketing/stitch_n_pitch.jsp (be sure to enter the promo code GP-SNP08), or by calling Paul Rabeau at 416-341-1670.
RSVP TODAY, and invite your friends! You don’t have to be a baseball fan. As long as you enjoy to knit, you will have an amazing night!!!
That being said, how do you feel about this event? Do you think many will attend? Do you think there’s a big interest in both baseball and knitting, and with that, both activities occuring at the same time?
I may attend, but $20 seems a little steep to watch a game and knit, when if you really wanted to, you could knit and watch at pretty much any game (granted you may be the only one and looked at a little strangely!).
What do you think of this combination hobby and sport event?

Yeah it seems to be a touring event! Who knew that baseball fans and knitting fans could come together and create something like this. It will be interesting to see what sort of people attend and whether there will still be regular fans around. I would assume that the stitch n’ pitch crowd will be in a certain section, whereas the other seats will be available for the average fan.
I really hope we don’t see any casualties, like a knitter reaching up to catch a foul ball and accidentally poking someone in the eye with a needle…that wouldn’t be too good.
Think of all the fashions that are going to be shown off. Like this one featured on the site lechuck has shared:
Now that is stadium worthy knit fashion at its finest!!
